The Giants have reached a three-year, $12 million extension with DE Mathias Kiwanuka. He is now under contract with the team through 2015. The team confirmed the multi-year extension on Friday afternoon.
Kiwanuka was a key player in New York’s run to Super Bowl XLVI last season, registering 84 tackles and 3½ sacks during the regular season. Throughout his career, playing both defensive end and linebacker, he has been a consistent player, racking up 306 tackles, 27 sacks and eight forced fumbles since entering the league in 2006.
According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, the Giants will pay Kiwanuka $950,000 in 2012, $2.95 million in ‘13, $4.375 million in ‘14 and $4.775 million in ‘15. The veteran was set to make $4 million this season, the last year of his original contract.
