Illinois WR A.J. Jenkins going to the 49ers was surprising after the team signed Mario Manningham and Randy Moss during the offseason. However, no one knows if Moss has anything left and there are two things Jenkins can do. Get downfield and excel in the short passing game.

The quick-handed Jenkins can work the middle of the field as well as the edges and shows the traits to succeed, but at 6-0 1/4 and 190 pounds he needs to bulk up.

In fact, he struggles to keep weight on and needs to get stronger and improve his route running, as he needs discipline to maximize his skill-set which has a ceiling.

He’ll complete for playing time and if he’s able to make the transition he eventually could be a No. 3 fantasy receiver or flex option. He will have an uphill battle for playing time, barring injury or a lights-out camp, which is unlikely. He’s a dynasty-league pickup in larger leagues but a late-round flier at best in single-season leagues.
