A former NFL player has been found guilty of having sex with the underage daughter of a former Bengals assistant coach.

Nate Webster, who played linebacker with the Buccaneers, Bengals and Broncos from 2000-08, was found guilty on four counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in a Cincinnati court on Wednesday. He was acquitted by a jury on charges that included gross sexual imposition and sexual battery and a fifth count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

According to The Associated Press, Webster had sexual contact with the girl — the daughter of a Bengals assistant — in 2009 when she was 15 and threatened to harm her if she told anyone. Webster admitted having sex with the girl but said she was 16, the legal age of consent in Ohio.

“We obviously are disappointed with the verdict in some respects,” Webster’s attorney, Gregory Samms, said after the verdict was read. He told the AP they plan to file an appeal after sentencing but said he could not comment on specific issues being considered for the appeal.
