The Broncos will see the return of a player who impressed them in training camp two years ago.

DL Ben Garland, who had been serving a five-year commitment with the U.S. Air Force, has been granted an early release to resume his football career.

Garland displayed an impressive work ethic in 2010 and regularly outran even Tim Tebow in wind sprints after practice. He was placed on the reserve/military list after that camp to begin serving his military commitment.

Garland told The Associated Press that he had been allowed to return to the NFL through a program that allows military personnel to abbreviate their military careers for another career that would benefit the Air Force in recruiting or public affairs.

Garland attended the Air Force Academy, where he recorded 115 tackles (52 solo), 11½ sacks, three forced fumbles and two blocked kicks in 39 games (34 starts).  As a senior he won second-team All-Mountain West Conference honors from the league’s coaches.

The Broncos signed him as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2010.
