Tim Tebow got a gift he hadn’t expected Friday night, when a woman bid $100,000 in a charity auction for the prize of spending a day with the charismatic Jets quarterback.
The auction took place at a gala preceding the second annual Tim Tebow Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The winning bid will benefit the work of Tebow’s foundation.
“It was incredible,” Tebow told The St. Augustine Record. “It’s humbling. You don’t feel worthy, but when people care about your cause and know that you’re trying to do something for other people, it’s amazing to see what can happen.”
The winning bidder, who asked that she not be identified, and her family indicated they have a plan for how to spend their day with Tebow, according to the newspaper.
Earlier Friday night Tebow received a sentimental gift from Masters champion Bubba Watson, who gave Tebow his player badge from the final round of last Sunday’s Masters. Coincidentally, the number on the player badge was 15, the same number that Tebow wears on the football field.
