After weeks of negotiations, the Redskins finally reached a deal on Friday with free-agent MLB London Fletcher. The news came courtesy of the Pro Bowler himself, who tweeted the announcement.
“Redskins fans your captain is back,” Fletcher tweeted, adding the hashtag for “Hail to the Redskins” at the end. He added that the support he’s received from Washington fans was a major reason for his return.
“Excited about returning to the Skins! The support I've received from the fans didn't go unnoticed!”
The linebacker has been one of the NFL’s better defenders, racking up 100-plus tackles in each of the past 12 seasons. He’s also incredibly durable, having played in 224 consecutive games, tied for the longest streak in the league, with the exception of kickers.
Financial terms of Fletcher’s deal have not been announced.
