Jaguars DT Terrance Knighton was involved in an incident early Sunday morning and sustained an eye injury. He underwent surgery and is recovering, according to a statement by the team.
“We are in the process of gathering information about what happened and are not able to further comment at this time. Our concern and our focus is on Terrance and his health and recovery,” the team stated.
Knighton has been a three-year starter for Jacksonville since entering the league out of Temple in 2009. In 2011, he started all 13 games he played and recorded 29 tackles. He has 108 tackles, 5½ sacks and five passes defensed in his career.
Nicknamed “Pot Roast,” Knighton said last Wednesday at the Jaguars’ voluntary offseason strength program that he is “in the best shape I’ve been in since reporting as a rookie,” according to the Florida Times-Union.
