The Raiders have signed former Giants free-agent DE Dave Tollefson, the team confirmed Saturday. The San Jose Mercury News first reported the agreement on its website Friday evening.
Tollefson spent the past five seasons with the Giants, playing on two Super Bowl winners. He started only two games (both last season) during his Giants tenure but played in 57 games, recording 10 sacks, 81 tackles and three forced fumbles. His five sacks last season marked his career high.
Tollefson grew up in the Bay Area. He was selected by Green Bay in the seventh round of the 2006 draft. He was with the Raiders during 2007 training camp and then was a member of their practice squad before the Giant signed him to their active roster.
New Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie was in Green Bay when the Packers drafted Tollefson. He spent his rookie season on the Packers' practice squad.
Both the Packers and the Seahawks had shown interest in Tollefson, according to Pro Football Talk.
