The Bears added some much-needed depth at cornerback, agreeing to terms with unrestricted free-agent CB Kelvin Hayden on a one-year deal, the team announced Thursday.
After spending the first six seasons of his career with the Colts, Hayden — a Chicago native — played in eight games and made one start for the Falcons in 2011. He has struggled with injuries since the 2008 season, missing at least five games in each of the past four seasons.
The way we see it
Hayden has experience playing in a cover-2 defense, so he should be comfortable adjusting to his new team's system. If he can stay healthy, Hayden has the potential to compete for reps against another former Colt, Tim Jennings, at left corner.
