The Vikings have signed CB Chris Carr, giving the team another solid defensive back and filling a position of need, NFL Network's Jason La Canfora first reported. Financial terms for the one-year deal have not been announced.
Carr played the past three seasons for the Ravens after playing early in his career with the Raiders and Titans. Back and hamstring injuries forced him to miss seven games last season and he did not record an interception in 2011.
Carr has also been an effective kickoff and punt returner during his career, averaging 24.6 yards per kickoff and 7.3 yards per punt return since entering the league.
The way we see it
The Vikings don't want to make Percy Harvin return all the kickoffs, and Marcus Sherels needs competition on punt returns. Carr has been effective at both, and he can vie for a reserve DB spot, which also is a need.
