Last offseason, there were high hopes around the Dolphins’ organization for DE Jared Odrick, the 2010 first-rounder who missed all but one game of his rookie season. He started slowly in 2011 but came on strong and finished with six sacks.

Heading into 2012, with Miami continuing to look for more of a pass rush outside Cameron Wake, expectations again are high for Odrick.

“We’re hoping that Jared Odrick can really keep coming on, keep progressing,” head coach Joe Philbin told reporters at the owners meeting in Palm Beach, Fla. “He got hurt his first year, made progress, but now in Year Three, you like to see a player to step up and emerge.

“Odrick is a guy you’re looking to see continued growth out of.”

With Kendall Langford now a Ram, Odrick is lined up to start next season, as expected. His pass-rush abilities have clearly caught the eye of the new staff, and the bar has been set for Odrick to be a force in the opponent's backfield. The Dolphins did sign Jamaal Westerman, another edge rusher, and could add one in the draft to continue improving the pass rush.
