The Rams have added a pair of offensive players in free agency, signing WR Steve Smith and TE Matthew Mulligan on Monday. According to PFW correspondent Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Smith signed a one-year deal and Mulligan is under contract for two years.
Smith played with the Eagles in 2011 after four seasons with the Giants. He played in nine games a year ago, hauling in just 11 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown. He had offseason microfracture knee surgery prior to the season and was placed on injured reserve in December 2011 after sustaining another knee injury.
His best season came in 2009 with the Giants, when he had 107-1,220-7 receiving in 16 games.
Mulligan, primarily a blocking tight end, has six career receptions since being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jets in 2009.
