The Broncos have agreed to terms with former Bears free-agent QB Caleb Hanie on a two-year contract, ESPNChicago.com reported Saturday, citing a source familiar with the situation.
Hanie, who visited Denver on Wednesday, will have an opportunity to win the backup job to Peyton Manning.
Hanie struggled last season in relief of Jay Cutler, completing only 50 percent of his passes and throwing nine interceptions and three touchdowns. He eventually lost the starting job to late-season pickup Josh McCown.
The Bears made no attempt to re-sign Hanie this offseason, instead signing former Raiders QB Jason Campbell and bringing back McCown as the No. 3.
