The Vikings announced on Wednesday they have terminated the contract of Remi Ayodele, putting the defensive tackle on the free-agent market.
Ayodele played just one season in Minnesota, starting 13 games. However, he was ineffective much of that time, recording just 15 tackles and 1½ sacks.
Before signing with the Vikings, Ayodele played with the Cowboys, Ravens and Saints. His best years came with New Orleans, when he recorded 67 tackles combined in 2009 and '10.
There is a belief that Ayodele could be hit with a suspension from the NFL as a part of the Saints' bounty scandal. The tackle played on the team during two of the years that the program was allegedly going on, and he laid out then-Vikings QB Brett Favre with a big hit in the 2009 NFC championship game, which may have been an attempt to injure the quarterback.
