After contemplating retirement, CB Ronde Barber has agreed to return to the Buccaneers for the 2012 season. The unrestricted free agent signed a one-year deal with the team on Wednesday.
Barber will be 37 years old when the 2012 season begins, but he can still play at a high level. He has started the past 199 games in a row for the Buccaneers, and in 2011, he had 79 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble.
Barber issued a statement upon signing, saying, "I'm pleased to announce that I'll be back for my 16th season as a Buccaneer. Coach Schiano, Mark Dominik and the Glazer family have been terrific throughout this process. I'm really excited about the direction of the team, the moves we've made, and I can't wait to get back to work."
The Bucs signed CB Eric Wright in free agency and also have former first-round pick Aqib Talib at cornerback.
