The Jets, in desperate need of help at safety, have signed one of the top players on the market at the position, agreeing to a deal on Monday with LaRon Landry. According to reports, the contract is for one year and worth $4 million.

Landry was the sixth overall pick of the 2007 draft by the Redskins and played his first five years of his career in Washington. He has started all 64 career games in which he has played. However, he has missed a total of 15 games over the past two seasons because of Achilles injuries. He was named a Pro Bowl alternate in 2007 and '08, and was en route to being an All-Pro in 2010 before suffering a devastating injury.

It is expected that Landry will replace Jim Leonhard, who is a free agent and also coming off a season-ending knee injury. The Jets still might look to add another defensive back in free agency or the draft to create depth behind Landry, given his injury concerns.
