The Chargers have reached a one-year deal with TE Dante Rosario, creating more depth behind starter Antonio Gates. Financial terms of the deal were not announced.

Rosario played for the AFC West-rival Broncos a season ago, but was mainly used as a run blocker. He caught just seven passes.

An eight-time Pro Bowler, Gates battled a toe injury in 2011 that kept him out for three games and limited in several others. The Chargers now have five tight ends on the roster, as Rosario joins Gates, along with Randy McMichael, Korey Sperry and Brad Taylor.
