The Bengals have reached an agreement to re-sign UFA FS Reggie Nelson, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday. Other media outlets have also reported the expected signing.

Nelson, 28, started all 16 games for Cincinnati a season ago, intercepting four passes and recording 85 tackles. The Bengals acquired him from Jacksonville before the start of the 2010 regular season.

A first-round pick of the Jaguars in 2007, Nelson has 13 career interceptions.

Nelson had visited the Jets, who are looking for safety help, on Friday and Saturday, and he reportedly had received a contract offer.
