The Seahawks have signed former Titans free-agent DT Jason Jones, and according to his agent, Mike McCartney, it is a one-year deal. Financial terms were not announced.
PFW's 41st ranked free agent, Jones comes from the Titans, where he was an effective pass rusher. In 31 career starts, Jones has 112 tackles and 15½ sacks. He's also added seven forced fumbles throughout his career.
The Rams and Titans also had been pursuing Jones.
The way we see it
Jones is likely to line up alongside DE Red Bryant, who was re-signed by the Seahawks earlier in the offseason. Last season Jones played mostly defensive end with the Titans, a position where he's not considered as effective as his more natural DT spot. Jones apparently wasn't able to attract the kind of long-term contract he felt he deserved, so he elected to sign a one-year deal and take his chances in free agency again next offseason.
