The Chargers have re-signed TE Randy McMichael, keeping a valuable run blocker and receiver on their roster. According to Liz Mullen of the Sports Business Journal, the deal is for two years and $2.7 million.
McMichael is the backup to Antonio Gates but plays often in the team's two-TE sets. Last season, with Gates injured for much of the year, McMichael started 14 games and had 30 receptions for 271 yards.
San Diego has focused on adding offensive targets after losing WR Vincent Jackson early in free agency. The team has signed WRs Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal, along with FB Le'Ron McClain.
