The Giants re-signed P Steve Weatherford to a five-year contract, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

The contract is worth $12.75 million.

The Giants had placed the franchise tag on Weatherford on March 5. He had a career-high net punting average of 39.2 yards in 2011, his first season with the Giants.

In his career, Weatherford has played for the Saints, Chiefs, Jaguars and Jets.

In the Super Bowl win over the Patriots, Weatherford dropped three of his four punts inside the 20-yard line. He had a standout performance in the Giants' win over the 49ers in the NFC championship game, as well, punting 12 times for a 46.4 average with two inside the 20.
