The Falcons re-signed DE John Abraham, PFW's best defensive player available (who is not a franchise player), to a three-year deal, according to multiple reports.
A 12-year veteran, Abraham started 15 games last season and recorded 9½ sacks and four forced fumbles. In his career, he has 112 sacks and 36 forced fumbles.
Abraham, who turns 34 in early May, has been with the Falcons since 2006. He started his career with the Jets in 2000.
The way we see it
Abraham had his sights set on one more big payday in his career, and hinted at a deal that would pay him $12 million per year before the start of free agency. He gauged his value on the open market and decided to stay put, likely for a much more reasonable price.
Atlanta signed DE Robert Edwards last offseason, but Abraham remains the team's best pass rusher.
