The start of free agency for the Colts has gone better than expected. Among its initial moves, the club found a way to re-sign WR Reggie Wayne, long believed to be moving on. What's more, Wayne apparently took a hometown discount to finish his career with the Colts. His three-year, $17.5 million deal (with $7 million guaranteed) was a great bargain, we hear, particularly when compared to former teammate Pierre Garcon's five-year, $42 million deal with the Redskins. One source indicated that, while Garcon is eight years younger than Wayne, the Colts and rookie QB Andrew Luck will be better off with the dependable Wayne than the inconsistent Garcon. In addition to the allure of finishing his career in Indy, Wayne's relationship with head coach Chuck Pagano, the DBs coach at Miami (Fla.) when Wayne was there, could have played a big role in Wayne's decision to return. Additionally, we hear Wayne will relish the opportunity to be a coach on the field for a younger club.
