The Bears agreed to terms with S Craig Steltz on a two-year contract, the team announced Friday.

Steltz, a fourth-round pick of the Bears in 2008, played in a career-high 16 games last season and also started a career-high five games, recording 42 tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles.

He also made 12 stops on special teams and has made 37 special-teams stops in his four NFL seasons, according to the coaches' stats.

The way we see it

Steltz provides solid depth at a position where the Bears have lacked consistency over the years. He's expected to be playing behind starters Chris Conte and Major Wright next season, but Steltz also helps on special teams.
