Bears GM Phil Emery and head coach Lovie Smith held a conference call with reporters Thursday, and the majority of the discussion focused on their new wide receiver, Brandon Marshall.
Marshall, who was acquired in a trade with the Dolphins on Tuesday, is alleged to have hit a woman in a fight outside a New York club early Sunday morning. The Bears have said they were aware of the incident before making the trade for Marshall, who is a repeat violator of the league's personal-conduct policy.
It's not clear if Marshall will be suspended, but the league is looking into what happened over the weekend.
"The league has contacted us," Emery said Thursday. "We're in contact with the league. We're working through this process with them along with ourself in doing our own work and I think that's just getting a little far ahead of the process. We will monitor the process and follow it to its conclusion."
The Bears will introduce Marshall, along with recently signed backup QB Jason Campbell, at a press conference at Halas Hall on Friday.
