The Browns re-signed unrestricted free-agent OT Oniel Cousins on Thursday, the club said.

Cousins, 27, played in four games for Cleveland in 2011, starting the season opener at right tackle for the injured Tony Pashos. He's appeared in 29 NFL regular-season games (five starts).

The Browns also re-signed reserve DL Brian Schafering, an exclusive-rights free agent. He notched 29 tackles as a reserve in 2011.

The Browns also confirmed the re-signing of TE Alex Smith, which had been previously reported. Smith caught 14 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown last season.
