Almost 48 hours after arriving in Buffalo, DE Mario Williams will be arguably the biggest signing in franchise history.

The Bills will sign the former No. 1 overall pick to a six-year deal Thursday afternoon, ESPN first reported. Earlier in the week, reports indicated the Bills were prepared to make Williams the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL. The reported deal is worth up to $100 million with $50 million guaranteed.

GM Buddy Nix and defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt brought Williams to Buffalo on the team's plane on Tuesday when free agency began. They were joined at dinner by head coach Chan Gailey and DT Kyle Williams.

Mario Williams stayed in Buffalo Wednesday, where his fiancée met him. The two spent the day looking at neighborhoods in the Buffalo area.

The Titans, Jaguars and Bears were among teams reportedly interested in Williams, but he stayed in Buffalo, where he will join Kyle Williams and Marcell Dareus on the defensive line.

Williams played in only five games last season because of a pectoral injury. He had five sacks in those five games. In his six-year career with the Texans, Williams had 53 sacks.
