The Raiders have released a pair of linemen in an attempt to acquire more salary-cap space.

OG Cooper Carlisle and DT John Henderson were both let go by the team on Wednesday. Henderson was cut after failing his physical.

Releasing Carlisle, a 12-year veteran who has started 79-of-80 games since arriving in Oakland in 2007, saves the team about $2.1 million in cap space. He turns 35 in August. The 33-year-old Henderson, who had 36 tackles in a reserve role last season, had a 2012 salary of about $4 million.

The way we see it

It wouldn't be a shock to see either player return to the Raiders next season if they agree to take less money. Carlisle is a solid starter on the offensive line and a good fit for the zone-blocking scheme that new coordinator Greg Knapp will run, and Henderson fits well in the team's D-line rotation.
