The Cowboys, in desperate need of help in the secondary, have agreed to terms with former Chiefs CB Brandon Carr. The deal is for five years and worth $50.1 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Carr, PFW's 15th-ranked free agent this offseason, should provide a major boost to a Dallas defense that released CB Terence Newman earlier in the week.

A fifth-round pick of Kansas City in 2008, Carr never missed a start during his four seasons with the team. He has 237 tackles, 65 passes defensed and eight interceptions during his career.

The Chiefs were hoping to re-sign Carr, but opted instead to sign ex-Raiders CB Stanford Routt before free agency began.
