The Bears announced Wednesday that they agreed to terms with TE Kellen Davis on a two-year deal.

Reports had Davis lining up visits with other teams as free agency began on Tuesday, but he and the Bears turned back to each other after he gauged his value on the open market.

Davis, 26, was selected by the Bears in the fifth round of the 2008 draft. He became a full-time starter last season and caught 18 passes for for 206 yards and five touchdowns while functioning mainly as a blocker in Mike Martz's offense.

He made 10 catches in the two seasons prior, and has 28 career grabs.

The way we see it

With Mike Tice calling the plays for the Bears in 2012, Davis figures to be utilized more as a receiver. Head coach Lovie Smith made it clear at the Scouting Combine that he wanted Davis back.
