The Cowboys cut PK David Buehler on Tuesday, saving about $1.6 million on the cap, according to Nick Eatman, staff writer for the club's website.

Buehler did not attempt any field goals and played in only four games in 2011 as a kickoff specialist, kicking off 18 times.

In 2010, Buehler converted 24-of-32 field goals and 42-of-44 extra points. He was the team's kickoff specialist in 2009.

Dan Bailey was the team's primary placekicker last season.
