The Rams released C Jason Brown and DTs Fred Robbins and Justin Bannan on Monday, according to PFW correspondent Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Brown got a five-year, $35.2 million contract in 2009, which made him the highest-paid center. He moved to guard midway through last season. Brown started 14 games last season after started every game for the previous four seasons.
Brown had two years and $15 million remaining on his contract, and his release clears $2.8 million of cap space according to Brian McIntyre of Football Outsiders.
Robbins started 15 games and had 29 tackles and one sack. He had a career-high six sacks with the Rams in 2010. Robbins is a 12-year veteran turning 35 at the end of the month. Bannan started 14 games last season, his first with the Rams. The 32-year-old lineman had 41 tackles and three passes defensed.
