The 49ers and WR Randy Moss have agreed on a one-year contract, the team announced Monday night.

Moss, 35, sat out the 2011 season after retiring in August. He played for the Patriots, Vikings and Titans in 2011, catching 28 passes for 393 yards and five TDs.

For his career, Moss has caught 954 passes for 14,858 yards and 153 TDs. He has played for Minnesota (1998-2004, 2010), Oakland (2005-06), New England (2007-10) and Tennessee (2010).

The way we see it

The 49ers are in need of WR help, and if the year away from the game has rejuvenated Moss, he could be an asset to their passing game, considering his rare physical gifts and excellent understanding of the game. However, New England traded him and Minnesota waived him two seasons ago, and he did not have much impact for a Tennessee offense that needed a receiving threat with Kenny Britt out of the lineup. How much he has left, and whether he helps or hinders team chemistry, are issues to watch.
