In a continuing effort to create some salary cap space, the Raiders have released CB Chris Johnson, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Johnson played in only four games last season, as injuries and off-field distractions kept him out of uniform. He had been one of the team's top corners, having grabbed eight interceptions between 2008-10.

The move saves the Raiders nearly $3.5 million in cap space. Already this offseason, the team has released CB Stanford Routt and restructured the contracts of QB Carson Palmer, DT Richard Seymour and FS Michael Huff. They are still over the projected salary cap and must be under the cap by next Tuesday.

The team also released S Hiram Eugene, as he failed his physical.
