The 49ers have signed DT Will Tukuafu to a two-year contract extension, the team announced Thursday.
Tukuafu, who has one year of free-agent credit, joined the team as a free agent on Aug. 12, 2010. After spending most of his rookie season on the practice squad, he was promoted to the 53-man roster for the final two games but didn't play.
Last season Tukuafu played in five games before a wrist injury suffered against Philadelphia landed him on injured reserve. He recovered a fumble on his first career play from scrimmage in the season opener against Seattle, and he totaled two tackles in five games.
