The Falcons announced Thursday that they agreed to terms to re-sign RB Jason Snelling. Snelling was set to be an unrestricted free agent.
The Falcons' short-yardage back, Snelling played in 15 games last season and rushed for 151 yards on 44 carries. He added 26 catches for 179 yards and a receiving score. He has 12 career touchdowns in his five seasons in Atlanta.
Snelling is the third player that was set to hit the open market who re-signed with the Falcons this week, joining FS Thomas DeCoud and DE Kroy Biermann.
The way we see it
Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff has locked up a starting free safety (DeCoud) and two key role players (Biermann and Snelling) in the past few days, and he'd like to get deals done with at least a couple more Falcons players before they become free agents on March 13.
Atlanta is interested in re-signing WR-RS Eric Weems and MLB Curtis Lofton, but both have interest in gauging their value on the open market.
