The Ravens officially terminated the contract of vested veteran CB Domonique Foxworth on Monday. He failed his physical, the team announced.
"We appreciate all Domonique did for us the past three years, both with his play and his important leadership off the field," said GM Ozzie Newsome. "This does not preclude us from bringing Domonique back at a later date."
Foxworth reportedly would have been owed $7 million for the 2012 season.
Foxworth played in only two games in 2011 after missing the entire 2010 season. He tore his ACL on the eve of 2010 training camp. He played in the first two games of ’11 before returning to injured reserve.
The 28-year-old told the team's website after the AFC championship loss that "things haven't progressed in the way that I would have expected."
In his last full season, 2009, Foxworth had 53 tackles and four interceptions in 16 starts.
