WASHINGTON (AP) — District of Columbia officials are in talks with the Redskins about moving the team's headquarters and training facility to a spot near RFK Stadium, where the team used to play.

District officials have identified a parcel of land that could allow the team to relocate its training center from Loudoun County, Va. Such a move would bring the team closer to its stadium in Landover, Md.

The land has been targeted for mixed-use development for a decade, but no projects are imminent. D.C. Councilmember Tommy Wells, who represents that portion of the city, says a Redskins training facility would not benefit the neighborhood.

A spokesman for Mayor Vincent Gray says the mayor is talking to numerous parties about the land and wants the best deal for the city.
