The Redskins have re-signed starting C Will Montgomery before he hit the free-agent market, the Washington Post reported Saturday. The contract is for four years, but no financial terms were reported.
"We worked out a deal yesterday," Montgomery told the Post. "I'm definitely happy to stay with the Redskins and for the chance to build on what we've started. I feel like we're only a few pieces away. We definitely have the talent, having beaten the Giants twice this year."
Montgomery, 29, started all 16 games last season. Prior to 2011, he had started a total of 15 games in four seasons, having played with the Jets and the Panthers before coming to Washington.
