The Bengals are in an interesting position entering free agency. They have needs at wide receiver and running back, with starting spots available at both positions, and they have the money to address those needs. The way we hear it, veteran RB and WR help could be sought in free agency. The good news for the Bengals? Wide receiver is one of the deepest positions in free agency. Running back is not as loaded with talent, and the franchise tag is likely to thin the ranks of the available starters, making the competition for the best UFA runners unsigned as of the start of the league year something to watch. The Bengals' starting running back the past four seasons, Cedric Benson, is an unrestricted free agent who appears likely, at the very least, to be able to test the market like he did a season ago. At the NFL Scouting Combine, head coach Marvin Lewis indicated that the Bengals need to improve as a running team whether Benson is in the mix next season or not.
