The 49ers have re-signed S C.J. Spillman to a three-year contract, according to CSN Bay Area. The site quotes Spillman's agent, Ron Slavin, who says the deal is worth $6 million, including $1.8 million in the first season.
Spillman is a backup to the Niners' starting safeties, Dashon Goldson and Donte Whitner. He is also a valuable member of the special-teams unit, having led the team in ST tackles each of the past two seasons on punt and kickoff coverage.
In four NFL seasons, he has started one game and has zero career interceptions.
