The Eagles have signed free-agent QB Trent Edwards. Philadelphia GM Howie Roseman indicated Thursday afternoon at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis that the deal would be done soon.

Edwards did not play in the league last season after being cut during training camp a year ago by the Raiders. His last action came with the Bills and Jaguars in 2010, when he started a total of three games. For his career, Edwards has thrown 26 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in 37 games.

The way we see it

The signing of Edwards means the end of an Eagles career for QB Vince Young. Edwards will compete with Mike Kafka for the primary backup job behind starter Michael Vick.
