A trial date of Dec. 15 has been set in a lawsuit filed by former NFL players against NFL Films for using their names and images in films and promotional materials.

Following several delays in setting a trial date, U.S. Magistrate Judge Arthur Boylan of Minneapolis told both sides to be prepared to go on trial in December, barring any remaining pretrial motions that need to be resolved.

The class-action suit was filed in 2009 on behalf of Elvin Bethea, Fred Dryer, Jim Marshall, Dan Pastorini, Joe Senser and Ed White.

NFL Films has said that it was permitted to use the players' names and likenesses by virtue of the contracts the players had signed with individual teams during their careers.
