The NFL Coaches Association announced that it has hired sports attorney David Cornwell as its executive director.
"I am both honored and humbled to serve as Executive Director of the NFL Coaches Association," Cornwell said in a statement. "As the NFL embarks on a new and what we all expect to be an unprecedented phase of growth, I jumped at the opportunity to contribute in any way I can to ensure that coaches' interests are protected and that they enjoy the fruits of their contribution to the NFL."
Cornwell has previously been critical of NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith, writing in a memo to all agents before the Super Bowl that Smith should step down from his post. It will be interesting to see how their relationship evolves, especially since the NFLCA were neutral last summer during the NFL lockout.
