DUI charges were dropped Wednesday against Steelers WR Hines Ward after he agreed to a plea agreement that involves probation, community service and a fine.

In a hearing in a Georgia courthouse, Ward pleaded "no contest" to a July 2011 charge that he was behind the wheel while intoxicated. In exchange for dropping the DUI charge, Ward was charged with failing to stay in his lane. He was sentenced to 12 months' probation, 80 hours of community service and a $2,000 fine, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The newspaper reports that Ward is also required to undergo an alcohol evaluation and participate in a risk-reduction program.

Ward was arrested on July 9, 2011, around 2:30 a.m. after police noticed he was having difficulty staying in his lane. Reports say he failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a Breathalyzer prior to his arrest.
