The Steelers continue to free up salary cap space for 2012. According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the team restructured OT Willie Colon's contract.
In the restructuring, $3.8 million of Colon's $4.5 million salary for 2012 will become a bonus, prorated over four years, Bouchette reported on Twitter on Tuesday.
Colon missed all but one game of the last two seasons because of injuries to his Achilles (2010) and triceps (2011) after starting every game from 2007-09.
The Steelers have already restructured the contracts of LBs LaMar Woodley and Lawrence Timmons and CB Ike Taylor. The team is reportedly still over the cap, and star wide receiver Mike Wallace will be a restricted free agent.
