The Bills and WR Stevie Johnson have exchanged contract proposals and plan to meet at the Combine next week, according to WGR-AM 550 in Buffalo and the Buffalo News.
Johnson, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, postponed contract talks during the season. The Bills submitted a proposal over a week ago, and Johnson's agent, C.J. LaBoy, countered the offer on Monday.
Johnson is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons.
The way we see it
This is a positive sign for the Bills that talks are ongoing and appear to be headed in the right direction. A franchise tag is possible for Johnson, but the Bills are better off, in terms of the salary cap, signing him to a long-term deal. His endzone antics and drops were a problem, but he is still clearly the team's top receiving option.
