Alabama S Mark Barron, one of the top prospects in the 2012 NFL draft, will miss the Scouting Combine next week in Indianapolis after undergoing double hernia surgery, according to multiple online reports.
Barron suffered the injury down the stretch of the Crimson Tide's 2011 season, which ended with a BCS championship-game victory over LSU. He underwent surgery following in January and is currently rehabbing. It is unknown if he will be recovered by the school's pro day on March 7.
The senior is considered the best safety in the Class of 2012, but by not being able to prove it on the field in the coming weeks, it could give another prospect a chance to jump up and take that spot.
