Bengals LB Rey Maualuga was involved in a bar fight last week, according to the manager of a Cincinnati establishment. The news was first reported by Fox 19 in Cincinnati.
According to Sammy Laham, the manager of Luxe in downtown Cincinnati, Maualuga punched Laham in the face at closing time early Sunday morning. The punch resulted in injuries for the victim.
"One of them said something at which point I repeated myself, that they had to leave, and then Rey Maualuga got up, took three or four steps and punched me in the face, more noticeably the eye. Then my nose started to bleed," Laham told the TV station. "Then security defused the situation."
The manager said that nothing provoked the situation other than the closing time of the bar.
Cincinnati police are still investigating the incident, and Maualuga has not been charged. The linebacker was arrested two years ago on a DUI charge. A second incident, under the NFL's personal-conduct policy, could result in a suspension.
