The Raiders announced Thursday that they cut CB Stanford Routt. The seventh-year veteran had signed a contract extension last offseason.
Routt has played in all but two games in his seven years with Oakland. In 2011, Routt had 15 passes defensed and four interceptions, both career highs.
Last February, Routt signed a three-year deal worth $31.5 million, with $20 million guaranteed. According to Scout.com's Aaron Wilson, Routt restructured his deal in August, boosting the deal to five years for a total of $54.5 million.
Routt was the team's No. 1 corner last season after it parted ways with Nnamdi Asomugha. The Raiders have Chris Johnson, Chimdi Chekwa and DeMarcus Van Dyke at corner on the roster.
